Nearctic Industrial REIT is pleased to announce Ken Hughes will join the board of Trustees effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Hughes will join David Kent, and Sean McCullough, and will be one of two Independent Trustees of the REIT.
Ken Hughes has been a certified member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) since 2005. He currently serves as Chair of Providence Therapeutics and Vice-Chair of Beacon Data Centers. He was the founder of Alpine Insurance, which he operated from 2002 to 2021. Mr. Hughes previously served as Alberta’s Minister of Energy and Minister of Municipal Affairs (2012–2014), and as the Founding Chair of Alberta Health Services (2008–2011). At the federal level, he was a Member of Parliament from 1988 to 1993, including appointment as Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister. He also serves on the board of the Banff Canmore Foundation, where he chairs the Fund Development and Engagement Committee. Mr. Hughes holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Alberta.
